Jamaica, Bishop Hendricks first arrived in
the United States in 1971. In the USA, he
became a Christian and has been a pastor for
forty-one years, joining the Church of God of
Prophecy as pastor on August 6, 1995.

The theme of his first sermon at the church
in Queens was “God is Still Speaking,” with
a text from Hebrews 1. Over the years since
that first service, the ministry has grown. Many
new leaders have gone forth and many souls
have been saved and delivered. Through all
the years of joys and trials, Bishop Hendricks
has learned to trust in God, to trust in Jesus.

Mirth Purdy, better known as Angie, is 64
and hails from the beautiful island of Jamaica.
She is the only daughter of Samuel & Lena
Ashman, and having 6 brothers to compete
with growing up, she quickly learned not to
hide her light. She attended school in Jamaica
and worked as a secretary in the Court of
Appeal Office in Kingston. In 1988, she
traveled to the USA and became a Christian
and in 1996, was baptized in the Church of
                 God of Prophecy.

Mirth eventually became a licensed minister
and today serves as the coordinator for
Prayer Ministry which reaches churches on 7
continents. Angie holds the position of Altar
                 & Follow-Up Ministry/Prayer Coordinator
and participates in many committees such
as chaplain, pastoral council, Stewardship &
Finance, and building fund and renovations.
She is immensely proud of her four children
                 and several grandchildren. The children
accepted Bishop Hendricks as a respected
and honorable man to be the husband of their
                 mother.

Bishop and Angie tied the knot on February
11, 2023, at their church with 200 guests
(mostly from the church), plus friends and
                                                               family from both sides.

In addition to their shared leadership roles in
the church, Bishop Henricks and Angie have
worked together to organize groups to travel
to Israel since 2016. They have learned how
visiting the lands of the Bible can deepen
                                                               faith, and broaden Christian understanding.
To walk where Jesus walked. To learn from
the land, from the people. Angie and Bishop
Henricks got engaged on Mount Carmel.
Perhaps they will renew their wedding vows
the next time they are in Cana.
