Embark on a study tour
Unlike the typical tour, where the emphasis
is on the hotels or the types of meals and
shopping opportunities, a study tour takes
you into the depths of the Bible and makes
it come alive. It is the connection between
us today and King David 3000 years ago. It
is seeing what Jesus saw as a child – what
He absorbed and how it affected His life and
ministry. A study tour will connect to the
Bible in an exciting way and will bring it into One of the reasons King David is considered
our personal lives today.
Why did King David choose
Jerusalem as his Capital?
To answer this question, on our study tours,
we take a close look at the map of the tribes
of Israel, showing that Jerusalem is right

between the tribes of Benjamin and Judah.
Benjamin is the tribe that brought out King
Saul (the first king), the tribe that housed
the original Tabernacle in Shiloh (until its
destruction), and the tribe that was almost
wiped out (see the story of Gibeah in
Judges 19). And Judah was the largest and
strongest tribe. It controlled the city of the
Patriarchs and gave David to Israel as the
new king after King Saul’s death.

his political wisdom and his ability to think
strategically. By choosing Jerusalem as his

leading tribes of Benjamin and Judah, yet
did not belong to either of them.
If he had chosen Shiloh in Benjamin as his
capital, his own people would have left
him. If he had chosen Hebron in Judah as
his capital, he would have failed to unify the
tribes. His decision to capture Jerusalem
and bring the Ark of the Covenant into the
city allowed him to bring the tribes together,
build the house of God (with his son Solomon
finishing his vision), and give Jerusalem its
eternal name: the City of Peace.
All of this can be read in the Bible, but when
it is seen on a study tour, the Bible truly
comes to life.
